Chief Investment Officer

This may be the most interesting career opportunity to arise in the Pensions sector in 2010. Working directly for a substantial (£4 billion) industry-wide, multi-employer scheme/Fund where the Members’ interests are paramount and there are no shareholders seeking profit, the organisation has shown itself to be innovative, successful and adaptable. The newly created role of Chief Investment Officer is part of a planned strengthening of the in-house Investment capability and will report to the Chief Executive. Providing leadership on all aspects of Investment and supporting the Investment Committee, the CIO will also engage with relevant Advisers and with participating organisations on Investment strategy and performance. Additionally, as part of the Senior Management Team, the CIO will contribute to the overall strategy and running of the Fund’s broader business.

Candidates will need to be good calibre professionals, maybe qualified Actuaries or equivalent, with significant Investment expertise and experience together with well developed communication, influencing and leadership skills. A real interest in the broader business and a desire to contribute to its overall management is also required.
